Welcome to 2025 in the Library

Thursday 6th February 2025

From the very first school day of 2025, the library has been humming with activity.

In the first four and a half days of school, more than 950 books and magazines have been returned, keeping library staff and some of our experienced student librarians very busy! Thank you to all the boys who have returned their Summer Book Bags promptly. Students who still have a Book Bag at home should return these to the library now.

We are off to a great start signing up student librarians for 2025. We are always looking for boys to help with issuing, returning, and shelving books, and to join in some fun activities throughout the year too. Experience is not necessary, as full training is provided. Students who have been librarians in previous years should also sign up if they would like to help again this year. Boys can see Mrs Gardiner or Mrs Watts in the library to put their name down.

Our New Books stand is brimming with great new titles but we are always keen to hear about more! Students can add recommendations to our Suggestion Book if there are books they would like to see added to the library. They can also 'Request' ebooks and audiobooks in our ePlatform digital library if there is something specific they would like to read.

The start of the year is a good time for a quick reminder that the library is open each week day from 8am until 4pm, and is device-free at intervals and lunchtimes to give the boys a break from their screens.

You can view the library information in the Student and Parent Handbook, visit our library web app at library.mcglashan.school.nz, and students can access our ePlatform library of ebooks and audiobooks at mcglashan.eplatform.co.

Feel free to contact us at library@mcglashan.school.nz if there is anything we can help with.
