Another successful year for Gateway.

It has been another very successful year for Gateway and for the small but driven group of year 12 and 13 boys keen to make a start on their careers. I am very proud that a high number of the boys have picked up apprenticeships or found a pathway to follow next year.

GATEWAY is a funded, limited numbers course aimed at students who are looking to transition from school into the workforce, across a wide range of industries.  It offers students an experience in a chosen field through placements at work sites, industry-linked learning and assessments, and 'CV' builder style and work-ready courses such as First Aid, Workplace Health and Safety and more.

This year, we had builders, electricians, pilots, farmers, metal fabricators, and auto mechanics students. There were 15 in total.

A heartfelt thank you to the businesses that welcomed these students and provided them with invaluable experience, knowledge, and mentorship. Your support for the course and McGlashan is greatly appreciated. We extend our gratitude to the following organisations:

Allans, Tony Illingworth Building, SAF, Palmers Mechanical, Kurt Building, KG Builders, Webster Building, Logan Foote Building, Lees Electrical, Allgo Electrical, JJ Limited, Stevenson and Williams Building, Maori Hill Automotive, Milburn Lime, and the farming families of O’Connell's, Eason's, Oldham's, and Smith's.

Your generosity and commitment to supporting the students during their placements this year have made a significant impact. We truly value the ongoing support from these businesses, many of which have hosted students for placements year after year. Your contributions are essential to our success, and we couldn't do this without you. Thank you.
