Continuing from the excellent results in Blenheim South Island Champs, four John McGlashan boys travelled to Hamilton to compete in the NZ secondary school champs.

NZ Secondary Schools Swimming in Hamilton 2017

Courtland Ellis, Ben Carr, Nathan Wolf and Geoffrey Kemp were racing against 580 of the top swimmers in the country, from 147 schools.

Our school finished 6th in the 55 male- only schools, an amazing result with our four boys against most schools with over 20 plus swimmers.

Our boys were third in both the over-16 year relays, 200 Free and Medleys, with 16 teams racing. The first three teams were separated by one-hundredth of a second each.

In most races, our swimmers were placed in the fastest finals, again a great reflection on our swimmers.

Results:

  • Courtland achieved three golds, six silvers and two bronze
  •  Geoffrey achieved one gold, one silver and four bronze
  • Ben achieved three bronze
  • Nathan achieved two bronze

Well done boys.
