Check out all the instruments on offer!
It's always a treat to see our itinerant music teachers back in action and sporting a huge variety of instruments to kick off the year at their annual demonstration concert. Everything from Brass and Woodwind to Strings and Drums were on display and are available to learn at John McGlashan in 2025!
The beginning of the school year is a great time to explore a new interest, and it's always worth adding a musical instrument (or voice!) into the mix. Learning music is proven to increase creativity and memory as well as reducing stress, which can help to support progress at school and in life.
Making music is also a lot of fun, and starting a band or joining a group like the JMC Big Band or Pipe Band is a great way to make new friends. With events like Bandquest, Rockquest, Chamber Music Competitions and the Dunedin Youth Jazz Festival happening throughout the year, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and perform with other students from all over Dunedin.
Lesson sign-ups are now open for all students using this form. Check in with your boy to see if they're keen to give it a go!
Lesson & hire details depend on the instrument - if you have questions, please email artscoordinator@mcglashan.school.nz
