Our First XI cricket team is fortunate and grateful to have the services of a talented coach who has already made a positive impression.
We are very excited to have a coach of Shawn’s quality coaching our 1st XI this season. Shawn is a South African born 26-year-old professional cricketer who made the brave call to retire from 1st class cricket at the age of 23 due to head knocks in both his rugby and cricket career.
Shawn was a contracted Otago Volts player for two seasons before retiring and before that with the Auckland Aces for two seasons. A top-order batsman and medium-pace bowler Shawn will bring a huge knowledge to JMC cricket. He is also working with Otago cricket in their pathway programs providing specialist coaching at U17 and U19 levels. Shawn really wants the boy to try their best at every game and every training. His main focus is that the boys give their best and enjoy the game, with this they hopefully get positive outcomes.
