Determination and sportsmanship shine at the Otago Secondary Schools Cross Country Series.

This week we wrapped up the 2025 Otago Secondary School Cross Country Series, where student-athletes from across the region tested their endurance, focus, and team spirit in a series of races.

Held across multiple venues— the first event of the season was held at Kettle Park where we had two teams entered in the Caversham Cross Country Relays. Unfortunately the Milton Relays were cancelled this year due to weather, which bring us to the last event of the series - Otago Cross Country Champs. This was held at Kaikorai Valley College.

Our U14's completed 3kms, which consisted of 2 loops. Whereas the U15's took on the 4 km, completing 3 loops. It was the perfect day for a cross country, the sun came out providing us with a crisp clear day. And in true cross country style there was mud galore.

Participation and support was evident throughout the series. Cheering each other on or pushing through the mud, our runners embodied the values of determination and sportsmanship.

A huge thank you to Bonnie Gradwell and Tony Gomez in the sports office, parents, and supporters who helped with transport and encouragement.

Congratulations to all our competitors!
