The start of a new school year is always filled with anticipation, and for our Year 7 and 8 students, the past week and a half have been a whirlwind of new experiences, learning, and settling into routines.
The first days of school are always a mix of excitement and nerves, and the past week and a half were no exception for our Year 7 and 8 students. As the school gates opened last week, students reconnected with friends, met new classmates, and settled into the year ahead.
The term began with our first whole-school assembly, setting the tone for the weeks to come. Acting Principal, Mr Veitch, addressed the students, emphasising the importance of taking pride in themselves and their school. He spoke passionately about the value of RESPECT—respect for themselves, their peers, their teachers, and their environment. His words provided a guiding principle as students embarked on their academic journey.
Following the assembly, students began establishing their routines. The new Year 7 cohort took part in an additional tour of the school, familiarising themselves with key locations and being walked through safety and emergency procedures. This helped ensure they felt comfortable and confident navigating their new learning environment.
Over the past week and a half, students explored specialist subjects such as Science, Food and Digital Technology, Drama, Christian Studies, Physical Education, and Motor Skills. They learned about the resources available to them and the structure of their lessons, while teachers outlined behavioural expectations, safety protocols, and assessment criteria. These sessions also provided opportunities for students to ask questions, engage in introductory activities, and familiarise themselves with new learning tools and technology.
The energy and enthusiasm displayed by the students are outstanding. With a strong foundation now in place, we look forward to seeing them grow, learn, and make the most of the opportunities ahead.
Here’s to an exciting and successful year for our Year 7 and 8 students!
