As part of our new eLearning initiatives across the college, each Year 9 class had an 'eReady @JMC' workshop with Mrs Jo Mullenger and a group of Year 10 mentors.

eLearning is constantly evolving and students arrive in Year 9 with a varying degree of skill levels when it comes to making the most out of their devices; be it an iPad or a Macbook. This year we decided to generate a checklist of 'must do' set-up tasks that all Year 9 students needed to have in place by the end of the second week of the term. One of the tasks we helped the students with was setting up the Google suite (Drive, Classroom, Docs, Gmail) as this forms the core of our eLearning platform. We also helped them get up and running with KAMAR and how to use the Reminders app as a homework diary. This last one is probably the most important for parents and we encourage you all to ask how it works and check the boys are using it.

Last year we asked members of the 2016 Year 9 group to apply to be eLearning mentors, with the workshops being their first task of the year. We had a wonderful number of applications and selected the group you will see in the photo. These boys did a fantastic job of helping the new Year 9s and contributing ideas to what needed to be on the 'to do' list for the workshop sessions. We are hoping to roster them on a Help Desk in the library during lunchtimes.
