Congratulations to the recent 1st XV cappings
Rugby is back for another year, and the 1st XV team has just reached the halfway point of the season. The 1st XV had a rocky start this season but has recently achieved three consecutive wins, including a notable victory over Otago Boys 1st XV.
Each of these wins also marked a special occasion, as they were cap games for some of our 1st XV players. Earning a cap is a significant achievement in school sports across the country, and each school has its own criteria for this recognition.
At John McGlashan, a player earns a cap by making 15 starts for the 1st XV or by being named in the team 22 times.
Here are the cap games and the players who received their caps:
- Southland Boys 2nds: Angus Burns
- Otago Boys High School: Zac Cunningham
- Dunstan High School: Liam Ross
Next week, we will see Serge Meeuws receive his cap against Otago Boys. Additionally, Harry Lithgow, Oscar Crowe, Brayton Erskine, Jonty Ellis, and potentially a couple of others are also in line to receive their caps before the end of the season.
