International Languages Week

Thursday 13th June 2024

Despite the cold weather this week, there was lots of warmth for getting involved with International Languages Week.

It was wonderful to celebrate another successful and fun International Languages Week. The students celebrated with form time quizzes, cartoons in French, churros and the annual tradition of a lunch time quiz  on the final day. This year our prefects Tatsuichi Narita and Emilio Ghosh-Novero were in charge of the quiz. Well done Tats and Emilio on all your hard work and organisation.

Staff were also involved as they attended kura reo sessions on the Wednesday morning and then competed in a staff quiz. The quiz was won by Mr Shoebridge and Mr Ogden.

Special thanks go to Annie Lucas and the Churros Ole team for coming in and braving the freezing cold weather on Thursday to feed the masses of hungry students desperate for churros!

It is no secret that learning a language is important. Learning languages and understanding cultures fosters empathy and promotes cross-cultural communication. It broadens our perspectives, allowing us to appreciate diversity and navigate the ever increasing impacts of globalisation with greater sensitivity and understanding.

We thank all who got involved or helped out this week and acknowledge all our amazing language students who are achieving much success this year.
