John McGlashan College is excited to announce that we are streamlining our sports communication by moving all team group chats to the Heja App.
Our goal is to bring the entire JMC sports community - students, whānau, coaches, managers, and volunteers - into one dedicated space. By centralising our communication, we aim to make the logistics of the season smoother for everyone involved.
How it Works
Each sports team will have its own unique private group within the app. Individual team codes will be emailed out to players and whānau as soon as they become available. Once you receive your code, simply download the app and enter it to join your squad.
Why Heja?
The move to Heja offers several practical benefits to keep our teams organized and connected:
Instant Updates: Quick access to game times and immediate notification of late-notice defaults.
Centralised Scheduling: All training times, gear requirements, and uniform notes in one place.
Parent Coordination: An easy platform for whānau to organise carpooling and support.
Building Culture: A private space to share game-day photos and celebrate team milestones.
Maintaining Our Values
To ensure a positive environment, JMC staff will have oversight of these groups to uphold our school values and Code of Conduct.
While we are excited about the increased connectivity, we ask our community to remain mindful of the following:
Respecting Boundaries: Please be considerate of the time of our coaches, managers, and staff. Aim to send messages during normal hours.
Appropriate Channels: Heja is a tool for logistics and team spirit. It is not the platform for discussions regarding game time, positional play, or complaints. These matters should follow the standard school protocols.
We believe this shift will significantly reduce the "admin headache" for our busy families and volunteers, allowing everyone to focus on what really matters: the growth and enjoyment of our boys on the field, court, and turf.
