"Are you passionate about amplifying the voice of rakatahi (youth) in Ōtepoti and advocating for your peers? Do you want to develop your skills and meet new and exciting people? The Dunedin Youth Council is a diverse group of rakatahi who want to contribute towards making Ōtepoti a more inclusive and engaging place for rakatahi to live, and we’re looking for new members for 2026!
Past Youth Councils have coordinated projects such as Soundwave Youth Festival - Live Music Event, electoral debates, activities for Pride Week & Race Relations Week, petitions, submissions, writing and art workshops, a podcast, and more.
We share our voice, thoughts, opinions, values, and aspirations with the Dunedin City Council regarding projects, planning, and strategies that impact the city's youth population and act as youth representatives at community events, forums, and panels.

Applications are open now and close on Friday, the 19th of September 2025 at 5.00 pm.
Applicants who progress to the interview stage of the recruitment process will be notified via phone by Tuesday the 14th of October and advised of the interview process, which will take place outside of school hours between October 20th & 24th. Induction will take place late afternoon on Wednesday, the 29th of October. The DYC look forward to welcoming new members in 2026!
