Wednesday 13th May 2026

The date has been set for the annual John McGlashan College PFA Fete.

This year we are holding our annual fete on Saturday 12th September.

This is the largest fundraiser for the College, so let’s all get behind it, and put the fun into fundraising.

Winter’s coming – it’s the best time for a spring clean!

To make the fete a success we will soon be asking for donations from our JMC friends and families.  Items such as pre-loved and new clothing, 2nd hand books, toys and sporting goods, household goods (no electrical items or alcohol, thank you), items for the White Elephant and Tombola items etc…

We’ll let you know as soon as the Fete Garage is officially open for donations! You’ll find it between the boarding hostel and the corner grass field. Once it’s ready it’s open on weekends too, perfect for out-of towners. Look out for the Fete Flags. In the meantime, start having a dung out and see which of your pre-loved gems can become someone else’s new favourite treasure!

Get Growing!

Last year’s plant stall proved to be very popular! We are asking all our green-thumbed friends to start propagating some plants and seedlings now, ready for the fete.  Think flowers, shrubs, trees, vegetables, succulents, tomatoes, strawberries, herbs... all plants.  These are dropped off just before the fete so you have plenty of time to get things going and nurture them. Get your lads involved too – skills for life!

Non-Uniform Days

As long-standing tradition, the four popular non-uniform days are once again a feature.  Each day has a different item as ‘payment’ for wearing non uniform.  These will be: 2nd hand and new books; tombola prizes (new – a $5-$10 gift), chocolate, and a gourmet grocery item or two.  We will advertise the dates in advance so you can to organise items for your boys to donate on the day. First-up is the Non-Uniform Book Day on Friday 29 May. These items are a massive part of the fete’s success;

thank you in advance!

Silent Auction, (est. 2022)

On the fete dance-card since 2022, another hotly contested fete event is the Silent Auction. We're happy to receive donations (large and small) from you or your favourite local (or further afield) business that we can then package within the raffle, fete or silent auction.

Volunteering

Volunteers and helpers are always much appreciated.  You don't have to be on the PFA committee to help and many hands really do pull off a minor miracle each year!  Giving a bit of time is as valuable as giving items.  Please consider putting your hand up and helping when we call for helpers.

You can also get ahead of the crowd and register on our Volunteers and Donations Form. There are many options such as sorting donations, helping on the day or in advance, or donating something large or small. There are so many ways to contribute and you can choose the time commitment that suits you and when that is.

Got another idea or want to come on board as a sponsor? We'd love to hear from you!

While the Fete is tried and true, we're always keen for fresh ideas to keep elevating everyone's experience and ensure our sponsors are looked after too. Please email jmcfete@gmail.com to discuss.

Want to know more?

Keep an eye on the PFA Facebook page and the Pilkington Press for updates and info.  If you register interest on the Volunteers and Donations Form we will keep you up-to-date.

The Fete is always great, but let's make Fete 2026 the best one yet!
