The John McGlashan College Under-15 boys dominated the 2017 Secondary School Cross Country Series.
Logan Park Road Race
The Secondary School Cross Country Series started with the Logan Park Road Races. This race is an individual event run over 2.5km for junior boys (Under-15) and 5k for our senior boys (15 and Over). Our Under-15 boys showed their depth with four boys finishing in the top six places.
Josh Hou – First
Nathan Harrison – Fourth
Dom Morrison – Fifth
Grayson Westgate – Sixth
With these results, things looked promising for our four-man Under-15 relay team at the upcoming Kings and Milton Relay Events. The boys did not disappoint!
King's High School Relays
At the King's High School Relays each of the four-man team completed a 2km leg. Our junior boys (Under-15) team of Nathan Harrison, Dom Morrison, Grayson Westgate and Josh Hou once again showed their class by finishing 53 seconds ahead of the second placed Kings team. Our depth of talent was apparent with our Junior B team of Max Kirkwood, Will Turner, Ben Lund and Harry McKenzie also running strongly to finish in fourth position. Josh Hou ran the fastest time (5 minutes 43 seconds) and Nathan Harrison the second fastest time (5 minutes 48 seconds) of the day in the Under-15 age group. In the senior race, our team of Dom Brosnan, Paddy Wennekes, Nicholson-Kelly and Ben Carr were pushed back into sixth place by three strong Otago Boys and two strong Kings teams.
Otago/Southland (Milton) Relays
At the Otago/Southland (Milton) Relays, our Junior A team of Nathan Harrison, Com Morrison, Will Turner and Josh Hou once again took the title finishing an impressive one minute and twelve seconds ahead of their closest rival, Kings Junior A. Our Junior B team of Max Kirkwood, Will Morshuis, Grayson Westgate and Harry McKenzie finished in fifth position. Josh Hou ran the second faster Under-15 time of the day. Our Senior team of Dom Brosnan, Ruaidhri Brosnan, Jez Nicholson-Kelly and Cade McRae finished seventh.
