The 2025 Otago Science Fair was a success for the 15 students selected to take part. Of those students 12 won a total of 20 prizes.
Here is a sample of their different investigations:
Lachie investigated the effect of different marinades on meat tenderness.
Oscar built a pulse jet engine (and featured in the ODT!).
Harry investigated haloumi cheese yields from different milks. Noah used xylem tissue from plants to filter water.
Leo investigated aerodynamic drag in model cars.
Max investigated effect of soil type on barley growth.
Ollie investigated the arsenic content of different rices.
Congratulations to all participants for their hard work and achievements at the Fair. The boys were commended for their articulate interview skills, knowledge of their research areas and maturity and behaviour at the fair.
