Welcome to this week's edition of the John McGlashan Pilkington Press.

Tēnā koutou,

Welcome to this week's edition of the John McGlashan Pilkington Press. I would like thank those parents who have shared such positive feedback on this weekly publication and the first set of progress reports that were sent out last Friday. We greatly appreciate your insights, and we encourage you to continue sharing both positive and constructive feedback. Please remember to scroll down to view this week’s additional reports.

Many parents may not be aware that our second campus in Te Anau is available for group bookings by our school community. It is a wonderful venue for family retreats, anniversaries, and even weddings. Please see the advertisement below for further details about this valuable opportunity for McGlashan families.

Our School Athletics Day on Monday was a resounding success, with many parents coming out to support their sons. The weather was perfect for a late summer day in Dunedin. The Year 13 boys created a festive atmosphere, and there was excellent competition throughout the day. The final results will be published next week after the completion of the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m races, which will take place during lunchtimes.

At this week’s Wednesday assembly, we learned about the eleven past Headmasters of John McGlashan College. The Year 9 boys also showcased their skills in the school haka, as part of the lead-up to our School Haka competition later this term. In the coming weeks, we will be focusing on getting our Year 7s up to speed with the Haka as well.

On Wednesday, Timaru Boys' High School visited for our annual sports exchange. The boys enjoyed a day of friendly competition in cricket, golf, touch, and volleyball.

Our ‘Meet the Form Teacher’ evening was very well attended by parents, and we trust that those who were present gained valuable insights into the various Year groups at the school. If you were unable to attend and would like to meet your son’s form teacher, please feel free to reach out to them via email to arrange an appointment.

It was a pleasure meeting some parents at the Athletics Day and the Meet the Teacher evening this week. I look forward to connecting with more of you throughout the rest of this term.

Kā mihi,

John Veitch
Acting Principal
