'FamilyZone' to roll out in Term 3

Friday 29th June 2018

As part of our ongoing commitment to educational excellence and our duty of care to ensure students’ safety and well-being, we’re proud to announce a new cyber-safety initiative.

Technology currently plays a large role in ensuring our students get the very best education.  However, this same technology also exposes them to risks.  As a school, we are to stepping up to this challenge and we do so with confidence that we’ll receive the support of our parent community.

You’ll receive more information regarding Family Zone in the coming weeks.  In the meantime, if you’d like to learn more about Family Zone and how it works, please visit their website www.familyzone.com.

In short, the product will allow the college to implement acceptable profiles for each age level in terms of accessing internet content or applications on their devices.  Teachers will also be able to manage student device usage within their own classrooms to ensure appropriate focus.

When students leave the school environment, the profiles remain but control of the settings automatically switch over to parents.  Parents can then choose to add or remove restrictions as they see fit.

We see this as an excellent means to incrementally develop individual responsibility and self-management in our students in a sensible and safe environment.  I would encourage all parents to attend the information evening once advertised next term.
