A stunning, clear and still Dunedin morning was abruptly disturbed by multiple high revving chainsaws last Friday. There is nothing like the smell of a 2-stroke engine in the morning!

Learning from the experts from On Track Training Ltd. ten Year 12 students spent a day in the classroom learning safety procedures and the technical aspects of using a chainsaw before being supervised in the all exciting practical lessons.

"It was awesome", said Lochie Bain, after a hot day chopping up trees felled at the old Oderings Nursery site. Correct stance, safe cutting, bore cuts, sharpening, assembling, adjusting the saw, using the correct part of the bar are just a few of the things learnt, with safety at the fore.

It is Stihl a favourite and they wood definitely recommend it to those wanting to branch out.

Take a bough fellers!
