The International Department took our International Students, as well as a handful of their kiwi friends, skiing at Round Hill last weekend.

Day 1 didn't go to plan.  Although some students already had boots on and skis and boards waiting, the mountain shut due to looming gale force winds and the weather system rolling in quicker than thought.  So off we went to investigate Aoraki/Mount Cook for the morning before heading down to Tekapo Springs for a spot of ice skating, snow tubing and a little soak in the hot pools before returning to camp for dinner and some games, including some epic rounds of mahjong.

Day 2 was more than we expected.  An absolutely stunning day, with a great base of snow being delivered earlier in the week.  Those who needed it, started the day with lessons.  For some this was there first time on the snow, which was challenging!  The field was humming with the Polish ski team training there and a large race on the field as well. The McGlashan boys enjoyed the variety of runs and the uniqueness of there not being a chairlift in sight.  T-bars and pomas come with different challenges.

Round Hill certainly delivered on expectations. The views were magnificent, the snow was great and a BBQ in the carpark at lunchtime provided everyone with the necessary energy to ski on into the afternoon.
