Celebrating Te Reo Māori

By David Beazley

This year at McGlashan we celebrated Māori language week by exploring some Whakatauki. The boys went on a scavenger hunt where they had to use clues to find the locations of the hidden Whakatauki.

Once they found them all they could trade them in for a sweet treat. The boys had to decipher the clues which were given in Te Reo Māori and then unpack the meaning behind the Whakatauki.

The staff were also taught the Waiata (Purea Nei) as the school is learning this Waiata.
