The band made up of 13 students from across Dunedin and South Otago schools travelled to Christchurch for the RNZPBA National Pipe Band competition held on the 10th and 11th of March at Hagley Park.

All the boys had a successful tour and played extremely well in every event. Notable places include 5th overall in Grade 4B, with 3rd and 4th places in piping. This is even more impressive when it is remembered the band is playing against adults and they were one of only 4 competing school bands from the South Pacific. Furthermore, it shows the band's continued excellence as they similarly secured the highest placed Pipe Corp at the Otago/Southland Regional Competition amongst Grade 4b Otago-based bands. Additionally, Qwenton McKenzie, the band’s Pipe Sergeant, competed with the Grade 1 ILT City of Invercargill Pipe Band, who got fourth in Grade 1, making them the 4th best band in the country!
