The chess club has been very busy during Term Two.
The inter-schools chess competitions are held in June. Otago Boys' hosts the secondary competition and Dunedin North Intermediate hosts the primary and intermediate competition.
The senior team this year included Will Archer, Fraser Reynolds, Harrison Biggs and Cade McRae. The competition was extremely strong. Our players put in a great effort. Eight players represented the school in the intermediate competition. They faced very strong opposition but played with determination and fortitude.
Congratulations to Zhi Yuan Qi who played Board 1 in our intermediate A team and won every game. This was an excellent achievement indeed. The club will continue during Term 3 and encourages players to consider joining the Otago Chess Club which provides excellent tutoring on a weekly basis. Thank you to Will Archer who provides coaching and encouragement to all our chess club players.
