On the Tuesday 9th of February John McGlashan hosted its annual athletic prelims.

The athletic prelims give an opportunity for boys to test their personal athletic skills against members of their own house, with the top four athletes in each track event and top three athletes in each field event going on to represent their house in the competitive final day athletics. All students are given the opportunity to compete in all events ranging from 800m to Javelin. Participation through all age groups was extremely high with a great standard of effort and competitiveness shown by pupils throughout the day.

It was very positive, and of note to staff, to see all year-13s taking a leading role in the days events and helping organise and manage the age groups effectively. Thank-you to the sport prefects, house leaders and yr 13's who contributed greatly to a well run day. A special thanks must go to Mr Carruthers and Mrs Button for their efforts in organising such a successful day.
