On 21st May, we participated in 'The Amazing Race' Social at the University with other international students from various schools around Dunedin. Aries Pun (Yr 13) gives us a rundown of the event.
Many of our boys participated in the social and got along with the girls and other students very well. The objective of the game was to compete with other teams by answering questions on paper and reaching the destination as fast as you could. This involves a huge amount of communication, planning and teamwork in which to interact with others and promote our friendship.
We were put into mixed teams with boys and girls from other schools. The whole game took around 90 minutes and involved activities such as kicking rugby balls, answering questions and orientating.
Although we encountered difficulties during the game, we managed to overcome the problems through discussion, communication and critical thinking. As the game finished, we were all shattered. However, all of us got chocolates from the organiser which was really satisfying for us.
Overall, the race was entertaining. We are looking forward to the next social and hope it will be successfully held.
