Introducing our New Arts Coordinator

Thursday 18th May 2023

Alex Martyn (Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Arawa) has joined the school as our new Arts Coordinator.

We are very proud to announce the arrival of Alex, our new Arts Coordinator.  He's got a fantastic vision for the Arts at the College and we are excited to have him in this space.

Tēnā koutou katoa, I am very excited to join the whānau here at John McGlashan College as an arts coordinator, to help encourage, facilitate and promote the arts to both the students and wider school community.

Originally from Auckland, I have spent most of the last 7 years in Ōtepoti, having just returned from some study in Wellington. I am thrilled to be back in Dunedin once again!

As well as working in Arts and Events Coordinating, I am an artist and maker who aspires to uplift and tautoko indigenous storytelling in Aotearoa, as well as broader projects in the Creative Industries. Having worked as a builder, an actor and a musician, I find myself aptly placed in both the creative and physical aspects of the Arts, and hope to help showcase the myriad of benefits pursuing an art can bring. Mauri ora!
