Boys from McGlashan combined choir this year with Columba.
The annual inter-school choir competition, The Big Sing, was held on June 6 and McGlashan broke its proud tradition of 'slight embarrassment', teaming up with the Columba senior choir for a comparatively stellar performance.
The choir was rehearsed by David Burchell but was conducted by Richard Madden and accompanied by Boen Deng on the piano onstage. The choir performed three pieces during the daytime performance (to an enthusiastic audience who greeted the choir with cheers), this consisted of Minoi-Minoi, Lacrymosa, and Go Down Moses.
Aiden Hung performed the solo part in Go Down Moses to a very high standard in both the competition session and the evening performance. Randomly selected audience members appreciated the performance’s standard, making this a positive gain for the McGlashan singing reputation, and a good sign for the brand new Columba-McGlashan combined choir. Next year, look out!
