During week 5, Principal Neil Garry hosted breakfasts over three mornings for the parents of year 7 lads.
These were held in the dining hall and as folks arrived the boarders
were leaving to get ready for their days work. The team in the kitchen
had set up the top table with the best school china and we were offered a
range of cereals and fruit, tea and coffee, juice along with
croissants. The table mats were the Year 7 class ID's, laminated as a keepsake.
Year 7 form teachers, James Reid College Board Chair, and College Chaplain
Barry Kelk, were also in attendance each morning. It was fantastic to
spend time together meeting some old friends and making many new ones.
Relationships that should move on through the College with the boys.
Neil had responded to a comment at last year's leavers dinner about how some parents wished they had met up earlier in their son’s schooling. No excuses now for not keeping in touch. I hope this becomes another McGlashan tradition.
