A longstanding friendship and partnership.

Ichikawa Gakuen High School are celebrating 80 years of successful school life so this year seemed to be a good year to visit the school and learn a little bit more about Japan, Tokyo and the school we have had a longstanding partnership with.

The visit was a very educational one, with a school that is a lot bigger than us, with bigger grounds and many happy students who even recognised Mr Garry. The Japanese hospitality is renowned and deepening that connection by showing our hospitality seems like the right thing to do. Which brings me to the:

Ichikawa 2018 visit

John McGlashan College along with St Hilda’s will again be hosting the Ichikawa High School Group from Tokyo next year. Last year 24 boys were hosted by JMC families for their two week stay in Dunedin during March. This is a wonderful experience for the Japanese students and is only possible with the support of our generous families. The visit is a great opportunity for students and their families to share your everyday life while gaining an insight into a new culture.

If you have a spare room and are interested in or would like more information on hosting a Japanese student from 12-24 March 2018, please contact Kathryn Temple at:
