The Languages department warmly welcomes Christine Andreas to Aotearoa.

hello everyone!

My name is Christine Andreas, I’m 24 years old and from Heidelberg, Germany. Currently I’m working with Mrs. Renner as a teaching assistant in her German classes.

Until July last year I studied English, History and Psychology at the University of Tübingen. After that, I started working at a „Gymnasium“ near Heidelberg, where I taught History in Year 5, 8 & 9. I was granted a scholarship by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) to travel to New Zealand and get an insight of what being a teacher here looks like.

It’s not my first time in New Zealand: In 2017, after I finished high school in Germany, I lived in Swanson, Auckland for a year. I went to St. Dominic’s College in Henderson as an international student a few days a week, but also attended courses at university and worked as a teaching assistant at the Swanson Primary School. I definitely enjoyed my time up north but also can’t wait to explore the South Island a bit further now.

In my free time I like to spend time with my friends and family. I love traveling, hiking and taking photos. New Zealand is a great place to do all that!

I look forward to get to know the New Zealand school system in general, but also your school with its culture and values!

Thanks for having me!

Ich freue mich auf die kommende Zeit mit euch,

Christine Andreas
