Mr Allan is looking to put together a Year 9 and 10 combined Rugby League team to take part in the Otago Secondary Schools Nines Tournament in November.

John McGlashan has had amazing success in Rugby Union this year but some may surprised to know that there are a couple of great success stories of McGlashan students involved in Rugby League.

Former student, Rory Ferguson, is still living the dream over in Australia playing in the Queensland Cup competition for the Souths Logan Magpies. His journey in the sport started whilst he was still at John McGlashan, representing Otago at age grade representative level and later going on to represent New Zealand in the U20 Kiwis side. His brother, Leroy, now captain of the Taieri Eels Premier side also played for Otago, the South Island, and made NZ junior rep teams.

So, it'd be great to see our lads give it a go and see if there might be another success story in the pipeline.

Competition Details:

- Proposed date: Friday, 11th of November

- Timings/draw/location: TBC depending on team entries

- Age: Year 9&10 boys

- Format: 9-a-side (max of 4 on the bench & 15 total in a squad).
