Sport at John McGlashan College continues to prosper.
Congratulations to our victorious junior water polo team who won the Otago Secondary Schools Junior Water Polo Tournament, beating Otago Boys' High School in the final
14 - 6.
Geoffrey Kemp has been swimming since the age of eight and the hard work he has put in has recently been rewarded with some excellent results. Geoffrey has competed in 15 swim meets this year including two National meets. At the National Age Group Championships in May, he made four finals. At the New Zealand Short Course Championships, he made nine finals achieving two bronze medals in the 100m Individual Medley and the 200 Freestyle events.
On the 10th December Geoffrey will be heading to Brisbane to compete in the Queensland State Championships. Geoffrey has also been selected by Swimming New Zealand to compete on the 11th February in the 2017 NZ Zonal Championships in Auckland. He will be representing the South Island MAKOS with eight other 15-year-old males.
The eight John McGlashan College boys listed below have been selected into Otago touch teams. These players will represent Otago right through to the South Island Championships being held on the 17-18th December.
- U18 Boys : Hunter Cleland, Jimmy Sinclair & Charlie Gruppelaar
- U16 Boys: Dominic Morrison
- U14 Mixed: Orlando Tuhega-Vaitupu
- U14 Boys: Oscar Sycamore, Mason Prentice & Levi James
