Have you ever wanted to play music live on stage to an audience? A group of our awesome McGlashan musicians have been getting ready to do just that.
This weekend, the Rockquest heats are taking place, providing a platform for high school bands, duos, and soloists to showcase their musical skills and perform original music. This year we have 5 groups and 1 soloist entered in the competition, with students ranging from Year 9 through to Year 13. Some are entering the competition for the first time, and others have experienced success in previous years such as Soul Side who won 3rd Place in the region last year, and Nic George who reached the national Top 20 in 2022 with Suéchef.
The top 12 groups will be selected from the heats, who will then go on to perform 2 original songs at the regional finals on June 15th at the Mayfair Theater. Y13 group Marmalade and Year 10 soloist Adam Ludgate are entered in the 'Online' region, and will be putting together a video performance to submit over the next month.
Good luck to all of these hard-working music students! If you are interested in seeing our boys performing, then come along tomorrow night (Sat 18th May) to Taieri College at 6pm. These performances will also be filmed, uploaded and available to view on the JMC Music Department YouTube channel for anyone who can't make it along.
